I was a kid who was a wiggly worm. I had a hard time sitting still in class. I did not learn the way the school system teaches. I learned much better by moving my body. Unfortunately, I also learned to believe I was stupid. It wasn’t until many years later that I learned that this is not the truth.
I wanted adults to see me and understand me, and yet often I did not feel that connection. I was angry and I bullied. I believed that to make myself better I had to make someone else feel worse. It took me a long time to realize that this was not the truth.
I was a teen who rebelled. By 17, I was living on my own. My angst, rebellion, not trusting and feeling lost propelled me to believe that I had to do it all alone. It took me a long time to realize that this was not the truth.
I excelled at sports, played rugby for the Canadian Women’s Rugby team and attended the first Women’s Rugby World Cup at 21. I learned how to face fear, how to harness my power, how to work as a team, how to hold a vision and work together toward it, despite what others thought. I learned that women, despite the odds, can work together effectively.
After a difficult divorce, with my three children feeling the effects of a family divided, I took a deep dive to look at my own shit. I knew I had to make changes and the only place I could do so, was within.
As I learned to connect at the core, I began to trust and have deeper faith, and gained more courage to face my shit and to finally say “yes” to an undeniable pull within me. I attended the Awakened World International Peace Conference in Rome, Italy in 2012.
I had felt my calling for years, and yet put everything else in the way. It was too big, too scary, too visible, and therefore better to continue to play small and “just be a Mom”. But when I connected with all of me, (S.H.I.T included), my Essence, the whisper within, just could not be ignored.
During this conference, all religions were represented and collectively we identified our common shared values. I had the enlightening opportunity to have breakfast with Ela Ghandhi, the grand daughter of Mahatma Ghandi. My truth was deeply reinforced, resonating that the only way to effect change, is to be the change, and that my life IS my message.
By honoring my journey, with all its highs and lows, I know, more than ever, to connect and share with others, is the way to actively create the future we want!
I am compelled to challenge the status quo, the children are demanding more from us.
Therefore I continue to step out and forge new paths.
My children are among my greatest teachers, I am always learning from them.
Therefore, I teach by example; by both being and doing.
I am not an expert. I am a passionate, authentic and inspired leader. I have coached, taught, gathered and supported hundreds of Mothers, (Grandmothers, Teachers, Fathers, and Grandfathers!) and it is always better when we connect together!
